Congratulations John Berthold, on your winning photo!
These two lizards aren't cozing up for Valentine's Day, they've just found the best basking spot in their exhibit! This desert iguana (top) and chuckwalla (bottom) are typically found in the Southwest, but you can see them everyday in the Reptile House at the Zoo! Don't forget to submit your favorite Zoo photo to ecastillo@sazoo.org for a chance to have your photo showcased! One entry per person, per month please.
Zoo welcomes dozens of baby seahorses!
YOUR San Antonio Zoo is happy to announce the birth of dozens of lined seahorses. Typically found in the Atlantic Ocean, lined seahorses can grow to almost six inches! Did you know? It is the responsiblity of the male seahorse to carry babies during incubation! After 20-21 days, once the seahorse babies are full-term, the male seahorse latches its tail onto a stationary structure and releases the babies into the water. Come see our new babies in the Friedrich Aquarium!
