Japanese giant salamanders are on the move!
During August, these amazing giants will transfer to a new home in a newly modified exhibit at Tropical Waters located in the Kronkosky Tiny Tot Nature Spot. This new exhibit will offer an up-close, underwater look at these critically threatened species. Your San Antonio Zoo is proud to maintain the largest captive group of Japanese giant salamanders in North America!

Learning at the Zoo is fun!
Where else can children ages 3 to 5 enjoy learning their letters, colors, numbers, sounds, and a variety of motor skills while immersed in the wildest, most exotic animal environment in San Antonio? Where else but the San Antonio Zoo's pre-school program, Zoo School! Make sure to sign up your little one soon, as only a few spaces remain! Watch a fun video about Zoo School here!

Zoo run relay registration underway!
Grab your running gear... the H-E-B 28th “Animal” Zoo Run is just a sprint away! This 8-mile relay treks through the Brackenridge Park on Friday, September 14th 2012. So suit up your team of four and sign up right away! The fun continues with Kids' Zoo Run which takes place in the Zoo on Saturday, September 15th. Both races benefit the San Antonio Zoo!

It's time for some changes!
During the month of August YOUR San Antonio Zoo begins demolition to clear the way for Zootennial Plaza - the Zoo's 100th Anniversary project that will include a fabulous new restaurant and carousel.
The following areas will close permanently to make room for Zootennial Plaza:
- Wild Wonders
- Conservation Resource Center
- Parrot house
- The Ice Cream shop
