The San Antonio Zoo is one of the finest outdoor learning environments in South Texas! A Zoo visit could be just what your class needs to spark interest in science and observational learning. The San Antonio Zoo offers a special School Group Admission Price of $7.00 each for students, teachers, bus drivers, and adult chaperones of qualifying groups. To receive this rate, the entire group must pay at the same time. One person should collect from all adult chaperones and pay for the entire group at once. Adult tickets not purchased with your school group will be charged full Zoo admission.

Groups qualifying for school admission rates include public, private, religious and home school groups, daycare, pre-schools, and after-school programs, YMCA, Head Start, college, and PCI.

To receive our special school rates, one person must pay for the entire group. On-line registration required - www.sazoo-aq.org.

Self-guided Zoo Visits

School Group Rate: $7/person
(One person must pay for the entire group)

The Zoo is a great classroom for all school ages and subjects! Bring students for a self-guided tour and enjoy docent presentations at various locations throughout the Zoo Tuesday through Friday. Keeper Connections times are listed on the map and students will be able to interact with the keepers and see them train or feed the animals. For the most enjoyable trip, schedule visits Monday through Wednesday when the Zoo is less crowded.

Self- guided zoo visits are available for public, private, and religious schools. Other groups qualifying for school rates are: home school groups, daycares, after school programs, YMCA, Head Start, PCI and college students.

(One person must pay for the entire group; Includes Zoo admission)

Want a hands-on, TEKS-aligned classroom program on your next Zoo visit? Book a R.W.C. program that includes an animal presentation, biofacts, themed activities and a guided tour. This 1.5 hour program is appropriate for all grade levels, but must be booked at least 2 weeks in advance.

Join our educators’ orientation of the San Antonio Zoo. Get a look at the available school programs, and join an educational tour. Sorry, no family members, just educators.

Home School Programs

Grades K0-5
9:30–11:30 am
Cost: $15/member parent and child; $25/nonmember parent and child

Spend the morning at the Zoo in our special home school programs which include biofacts, animal presentations, themed activities and a topic related tour. Parents are encouraged, but not required to stay.

Home School Family Roars & Snores Overnight

Ages 6 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Oct. 14, 6:30 pm - 8:30 am
Cost per person: $30

Come see what our animals do at night in an overnight designed just for home school families! Participate in a themed activity and night tour of the Zoo. An evening snack and light breakfast are provided. Enjoy a special morning animal presentation then spend the rest of the day in the Zoo working on your classroom activities.

Career Day At The Zoo

Interested in a career at the Zoo or working with animals? Spend the morning with Zoo staff learning about what they do, requirements of the job, plus the challenges and rewards of working with animals.
